For 20 years I have provided direct clinical services, supervision, and program management in a number of diverse treatment settings, including VA hospitals, private hospitals, community mental health clinics, inpatient and outpatient clinics, and private practice. My career has afforded me the opportunity to work with, learn from, and be inspired by a wide variety of individuals reflecting an incredible range of human experience, cultural diversity, and wisdom. I am grateful to each person who has placed their trust in me.
I specialize in trauma recovery, relationship issues, and couples therapy, and also treat a wide range of concerns arising from significant life transitions or stressors, including parenthood, work-related issues, the reproductive journey, and aging. I have received extensive training and certification in evidence-based therapies, including Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. I have advanced certification in Terry Real’s Relational Life Therapy, a therapeutic approach that stands out from other couple therapies by its emphasis on gender, power dynamics, trauma, and cultural context, providing a comprehensive and inclusive framework for understanding and resolving relational issues.
I also specialize in working with journalists who are exposed to occupational stress and trauma. I have a strong appreciation for the role of journalism in society, and consider it a privilege to work with news professionals. I have received training from and participate in ongoing consultation with the Columbia Journalism School Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma on the professional culture and occupational challenges of journalists.
I received my Doctor of Psychology degree from Long Island University and my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Hunter College. I completed my internship at the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System, Margaret Cochran Corbin VA Campus.
I am licensed to practice in New York and Washington, DC.
